About the Austin Information Technology Center
Who We Are
The Austin Information Technology Center (AITC), a recognized, award-winning Federal data center within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), provides a full complement of cost-efficient e-government solutions to support the information technology (IT) needs of customers within the Federal sector. In addition, we have implemented a program of enterprise "best practice" initiatives with major vendor partners that ensures our customers receive enhanced, value-added IT services through the implementation of new technologies at competitive costs.
As a corporate data center for VA, AITC has provided IT services to VA customers since 1967. In 1997, under PL 103-356, Government Management Reform Act, AITC was authorized to operate as a franchise fund organization. This legislation authorized us to offer information processing products and services to other Federal agencies on a fee-for-service basis.
In addition to supporting the IT requirements of VA, we also provide services to a number of other government agencies, including the General Accounting Office, the National Archives and Records Administration, NASA, Department of Justice, General Services Administration and the Federal Highway Administration.
We run more than 100 customer applications providing mission-critical data for financial management, payroll, human resources, logistics, medical records, eligibility benefits, and supply functions.
We maintain a state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, offering our customers highly reliable, available and scalable enterprise servers and open systems processing platforms. These platforms provide customers with the capacity and IT management tools to support their critical business applications. Using industry best practices, we provide business solutions at competitive prices, exceptional customer service, and a guarantee to satisfy our customers’ individual requirements.
Awards and Recognition
As a result of our vision to be recognized among the "best in industry" of IT providers, and our pursuit to achieve high standards of excellence, the AITC has received highly acclaimed recognition from both VA and other IT organizations throughout the public and private sector. We also regularly survey our customers’ satisfaction, and have consistently scored among the top competitors in our industry. Based on customer feedback from the survey, we've taken action to further improve service in areas recommended by our customers.
At the AITC, we put our goals into writing in the form of Service Level Agreements. Choose from one of our standard agreements, or negotiate a customized performance agreement, and trust that our achievements have regularly exceeded goals in response time, systems application availability, database availability, and quality of computer-generated products.
